Job Description

D.J. MacLean & Sons Carpentry Ltd. is seeking a skilled Senior Construction Site Supervisor to lead our team of professionals in managing and overseeing construction projects from start to finish.

About the Role
  • We are offering a competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of construction principles, project management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and supervise the activities of subcontractors and staff to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  2. Evaluate daily operations and implement improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  3. Develop and manage budgets for construction projects, including planning and organizing resources, materials, and labor.
  4. Hire and train staff as needed, ensuring they have the necessary skills and qualifications to perform their duties.
  5. Plan and prepare construction schedules, milestones, and progress reports to keep stakeholders informed.
  6. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
  7. Read blueprints, schemas, and drawings to understand project requirements and specifications.
  8. Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  9. Develop and implement quality control programs to maintain high standards of workmanship.
  10. Oversee the analysis of data and information to inform project decisions and improve performance.
  11. Write plans describing project specifications and construction schedules, including timelines and resource allocation.
  12. Schedule work for other staff members, prioritizing tasks and deadlines to meet project objectives.
  13. Prepare and submit progress reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  14. Represent the organization in negotiations or official functions, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  15. Establish work priorities and ensure procedures are followed and deadlines are met, promoting a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  16. Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations, making adjustments as needed to achieve project goals.
  17. Communicate effectively with other workers to coordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  18. Coordinate work activities to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets, resolving conflicts and issues promptly and professionally.
Requirements
  • Possession of Professional Engineer Certification (P. Eng.) or equivalent is an asset.
  • Construction Trade Certification is also beneficial.
  • 5 years or more of experience in construction management, supervisory roles, or related fields.
  • Civil engineering or construction trades background is preferred.
