About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Superintendent to join our team at Kiewit. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in the success of our industrial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure the growth and success of our team.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure optimal project efficiency.
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain positive client relationships, including regular meetings and issue resolution.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure project financial stability.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure project scope and budget alignment.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, including daily diaries and performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes to improve team performance and efficiency.
  • Review and approve promotions up to general foreman level, ensuring the best candidates are selected for key roles.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of construction experience, with at least 1 year in a superintendent or leadership role, preferably in industrial projects such as oil and gas facility construction, renewable energy, or water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly.
