The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.
Social Workers at Nova Scotia Health Authority are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience is required, with previous experience working in community-based settings preferred.
You will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach, and familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches including Motivational Interviewing and behavior change counselling. Experience with group facilitation, biopsychosocial assessments, and navigation of local community resources and agencies is also essential.
Hours and CompensationThis is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. You will be required to travel to various sites. The hourly rate is $42.89, and successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
