Job Description:
As a Department Manager at Northern/NorthMart, you will play a critical role in serving rural and remote communities across Canada's north. You will oversee the General Merchandise Department to maximize sales and grow profits, develop departmental business plans to meet or exceed sales and gross profit goals, and ensure operating goals are met by monitoring performance and following merchandising practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the General Merchandise Department to achieve sales and profit targets
- Develop and implement departmental business plans to drive growth and revenue
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and control costs
- Provide exceptional customer service and lead a high-performing team
- Foster positive relationships with store staff, management, and external partners
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment
- Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles and ability to apply them effectively
- Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills
- Highly motivated and adventurous with an appreciation for small-town life in a culturally diverse setting
Compensation and Benefits:
