Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Ptarmigan Inn. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization, and supporting our culinary team in preparing and serving delicious meals to our guests.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
- Support the culinary team in preparing and serving meals, and maintain a high level of customer service.
- Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees, and assist with their immediate settlement needs.
- Support the recruitment and hiring of newcomers and/or refugees, and provide them with training and mentorship opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations, and provide cultural competency training to all employees.
- Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers, and provide them with training and mentorship opportunities.
- Support the recruitment and hiring of mature workers, and provide them with phased retirement options and resources to help them plan their retirement.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of customer service.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
