Position Overview
The Senior IT Manager is a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills to provide technical and managerial leadership in establishing goals and priorities as part of the Clinical Systems and Informatics (CSI) Leadership Team. Reporting to the Director, Integrated Applications, this role's primary responsibilities include serving as the Application Leader for their assigned Epic Systems Applications, managing and coordinating application resources and processes, and coordinating consistent support of clinical and non-clinical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for support of clinical and non-clinical Epic applications
- Excellent leadership skills, with strong ability to coach and mentor team members
- Responsible for performance management and ongoing leadership of approximately 15-20 staff
- Collaborate with a range of stakeholders including business and clinical, internal and external to the organization, ensuring effective engagement and communication of milestones and decisions
- Collaborate with analysts, technical staff, and business owners with all phases of the system development life cycle
- Advising and coaching team members by providing guidance on issues, and key success factors incorporating lessons learned
- Organizing resources to complete application tasks on time and within budget
- Creating and executing a strategy to set the operational direction for the organization's workflows
- Managing the lifecycle of Epic and IT Applications, in accordance with business needs and privacy/security requirements
- Ensuring daily operations are being monitored and executed according to defined SLA's
- Undertakes sustainment activities to ensure Epic Applications are available, well maintained, and satisfy business requirements
- Participates in the development of quality standards, controls and procedures and ensures that Applications Team adhere to them
- Liaising with staff and leadership within CSI and across the organization
- Senior member of CSI's Epic Data Migration Review and Approval (EDMRA)
- Identify areas of risk and provide solutions to remediate
- Participate in CSI Leader on-call rotation
Requirements
- Successful completion of either a University Degree or College Diploma in a Computer Science, Business, or a Health-related discipline
- Demonstrated success with leading and managing projects and resources
- Project Management (PMP) certification is an asset
- Epic certification in one or more Epic Applications is an asset
- Excellent change management and transformational leadership skills, with strong ability to coach and mentor team members through change
- The ideal candidate must have prior working experience developing and implementing project plans, support tools and processes
- The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire and motivate people, and have a proven ability to develop and foster strong stakeholder relationships
- The ideal candidate must be successful in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and be results-oriented
- Possess knowledge of current electronic health record technology, health information systems, healthcare applications, project management, and software development are an asset
- Familiarity with commonly used healthcare technologies
- Demonstrated management with effective interpersonal and negotiations skills including written and verbal communications skills is required
