Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Vegetable Farm Labourer to join our team at North Canal Produce Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of our vegetable farm, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the technique of hoeing between rows to maintain crop health and prevent weeds from growing.
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots to ensure efficient processing and distribution.
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops to promote healthy growth and maximize yields.
  • Weeding and cleaning work areas to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce, livestock, and poultry to ensure smooth operations.
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens to maintain a clean and healthy environment for animals.
  • Perform general farm duties as required, including maintaining farm machinery, equipment, and buildings.
  • Clean and maintain work spaces to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed at all times to protect employees, animals, and the environment.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks, working under pressure to meet deadlines and handle heavy loads. The work will be physically demanding, requiring manual dexterity, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking. The candidate will be required to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and work in a variety of weather conditions.

Requirements
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Work Term

This is a seasonal position with a work term of up to 40 to 60 hours per week.
