Senior Legal Counsel

At Alstom, we're a global leader in the transportation industry, with a diverse portfolio of high-speed trains, metros, and other mobility solutions. Our team of experts is dedicated to creating greener and smarter mobility worldwide.

We're seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team in Toronto, CA for the RER project. As a key member of our legal team, you'll provide expert support and guidance on legal matters related to our business activities with customers, partners, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review contracts and other legal documents to ensure they meet our business needs and minimize risks.
  • Support our business teams in all legal and contractual matters, including claim management and dispute resolution.
  • Evaluate tender documents and provide contractual and legal advice.
  • Manage and instruct litigation, arbitration, or other dispute matters to protect our business interests.
  • Handle corporate law matters and promote our Alstom Code of Ethics.

Required Profile:

  • Law degree (BCL or LLB) and admission to the Quebec or Ontario Bar Association.
  • Master's degree in Law or Business (desirable).
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in an international business environment or law firm.
  • Familiarity with public-private partnerships, complex international contracts, and public tenders.
  • Private practice experience in an international law firm (desirable).
  • Experience in construction or commercial litigation or arbitration (desirable).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide sound risk analysis and reasoning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to take initiatives and responsibilities.
