About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intellectual Property Lawyer to join our team as an Interim Head of Intellectual Property. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for devising and implementing comprehensive protection and enforcement strategies for our IP portfolio, aligning with our global business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IP protection and enforcement strategies to safeguard our brand and intellectual property
  • Manage day-to-day trade mark and brand protection work, including clearance searches, filings, and prosecution matters
  • Work closely with our global TM attorney firm and external brand protection advisors to ensure effective IP protection
  • Identify, clear, and manage IP-related risks in advertising campaigns and product development
  • Manage all IP-related disputes and litigation, working with external counsel as required
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to IP, including co-existence, settlements, licensing, and acquisition of content
  • Provide IP guidance and training to stakeholders across the business

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Intellectual Property Lawyer with a strong background in IP law, preferably with in-house experience. You should have a solid understanding of IP law, media, and personality rights in the UK and ideally in the USA, China, and EMEA. You should also have experience managing complex IP litigation and disputes on a global basis, as well as drafting and negotiating a range of agreements for a UK and international business.

Key Requirements:

  • 8-10 years post-qualification experience in IP law
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align legal strategies with business goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and at pace, with a commercial and practical approach
  • Experience working for a global brand and advising on multi-jurisdictional issues
