Position Overview:

The British Columbia Institute of Technology is seeking a temporary, full-time instructor for its Aerospace Technical Programs. If you have a strong enthusiasm for Aircraft, Avionics, or Aircraft Turbine Engine Maintenance, we invite you to consider joining our esteemed team.

We are looking for dedicated faculty members (up to 100% FTE) to deliver instruction at our Aerospace Technology Campus. The successful candidates will teach in established curricula for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category 'M' (Maintenance), Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category 'E' (Electronics), and Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering instruction, assessment, and preparation for both online and in-person theoretical and practical sessions.
  • Managing administrative tasks, assignments, and evaluating student performance.
  • Maintaining and enhancing curriculum and program quality.
  • Collaborating with fellow instructors, Department Heads, and the Associate Dean.
  • Performing additional duties related to program support and delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise and skills to teach the CCAA or Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer foundational curriculum.
  • A valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license, either M or E, with prior Airworthiness Certification Authority from an Approved Maintenance Organization is advantageous.
  • Experience and knowledge in Gas Turbine maintenance is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of recent industry experience in aircraft maintenance is required.
  • Understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations and their implications for personnel licensing and aircraft maintenance.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with diverse industry backgrounds.
  • Prior supervisory, Quality Assurance, or post-secondary teaching experience is a plus.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Completion of an instructional techniques course or Provincial Instructor Diploma is considered an asset.
