Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Dietary Aide to join our team at Mon Sheong Richmond Hill Long Term Care Centre. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality standard of food production, cleanliness, and sanitation in the work area and with the equipment.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals to residents in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Notify the Supervisor/Cook if food or supply inventory is low, ensuring seamless operations.
- Receive, label, store, and check food and supplies in proper storage areas, adhering to inventory management protocols.
- Prepare food, snacks, and desserts for regular, texture-modified, and therapeutic diets, ensuring palatability and proper temperature.
- Ensure that foods served are at the right temperature, with the right portion sizes, and presented in an appealing manner.
- Report any safety hazards immediately to the supervisor, prioritizing resident and staff safety.
- Clean up the dining room, wash equipment, and collect and remove garbage from the kitchen, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Follow the assigned daily cleaning and work activity schedule, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Requirements
- Food handler certificate, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience, or one of the following qualifications:
- Students hired on a seasonal or part-time basis, who have successfully completed a food handler training program.
- Persons who meet the qualifications as a cook.
- Persons who have a post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.
- Other education requirements are specified in the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
- Experience working in long-term care/health care settings, institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) is preferred.
- Able to lift 25 pounds and push/pull a 500-pound food warming cart.
- Long periods of standing, walking, and repeated bending.
