Job Title: Library Assistant, Public Service
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Library Assistant to join our Public Service team at the University of Saskatchewan. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional client-focused library services to our diverse clientele, including students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support duties associated with the Public Service group, including circulation services, course reserves, serials and collections maintenance, and cash handling.
- Provide work-related guidance, support, and direction to student library assistants.
- Complete all aspects of circulation of library materials, including checkout, check-in, holds, shelving, and processing library materials.
- Provide excellent customer assistance and support at the Library Services desk, responding to general inquiries in-person and by telephone.
- Address client issues and disputes using established methods and practices, referring complex situations to the supervisor as necessary.
- Assist in the general upkeep, monitoring, and maintenance of library spaces, reporting problems to Facilities as necessary.
- Complete opening and/or closing duties.
- Undertake project work and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of a relevant post-secondary program plus a minimum of one year's experience working in a library.
- Relevant library and public services experience.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and independently.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications in a networked environment.
- Experience with Sierra library management system is an asset.
