**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asset Officer to join our team at the Saskatoon Police Service.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in social sciences and experience working with Indigenous communities. They will be responsible for providing culturally appropriate information, support and referral services to victims of crime and their families, as well as assisting with the development and delivery of programs and initiatives to meet their needs.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Culturally Appropriate Support Services: Provide information, support and referral services to Indigenous victims of crime and their families, including home visits as required.
  • Program Development and Delivery: Assist with the development and delivery of programs and initiatives to meet the needs of Indigenous victims of crime, their families, and offenders.
  • Public Education and Awareness: Assist with the development and delivery of public education and awareness programs related to crime prevention strategies targeting Indigenous people.
  • Liaison and Communication: Participate in activities, meet with Indigenous groups and community agencies in Saskatoon, to provide liaison and encourage communication between these groups and agencies and the Police Service.
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Assist with the identification, recruitment and training of Indigenous volunteer support workers.
  • Consultation and Advice: Consult with police officers and provide advice and assistance with cases involving Indigenous people.
  • Community Engagement: Serve on community committees and boards as required, and work with agencies and Indigenous families in a restorative justice format, including non-criminal cases.

**Requirements:

  • Education: Graduation from a recognized two-year, post-secondary program in social sciences or a related field.
  • Experience: Three years' social service experience in the Indigenous community addressing related issues.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence, and a current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Considerable knowledge of urban Indigenous culture, knowledge of victim issues, knowledge of community resource agencies, knowledge of the criminal justice system, and knowledge of the restorative justice process.
  • Language Skills: Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

**Working Conditions:

This is a temporary full-time position for approximately two years, with shift work and weekend work may be involved. The salary for this position is $61,748.88 to $68,077.68 per annum (2022 rates).
