Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Draftsperson to join our team at BWX Technologies, Inc. for a 12-month term. As a key member of our production facility, you will be responsible for producing accurate and complete drawings of assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the proper application of engineering design and drawing practices to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor own progress and report on emerging delays and problems.
  • Prepare final design layout drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure that designs and drawings are accurate and dimensionally correct.
  • Monitor own work for adherence to approved drafting standards, corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare design/drafting estimates and participate in project planning activities and progress meetings as required.
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, purchasing, production and other groups to ensure that designs meet necessary requirements for manufacturing, shipping, installation and maintenance.
Requirements:
  • Normally Technologist Diploma (3 years) in mechanical, electrical or other appropriate technology.
  • Demonstrated industry experience is a strong asset.
  • Able to understand and apply engineering instructions and to work from technical documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of design principles, standards, techniques and administrative practices.
  • General knowledge of relevant company products, processes and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
