Job Summary:

BWXT Medical Ltd. is seeking a skilled Draftsperson to join our team on a 12-month term basis. As a key member of our production facility in Kanata, Ontario, you will be responsible for producing accurate and complete drawings of assigned projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the proper application of engineering design and drawing practices to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor own progress and report on emerging delays and problems.
  • Prepare final design layout drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure designs and drawings are accurate and dimensionally correct.
  • Monitor own work for adherence to approved drafting standards, corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties appropriate to this level.
Qualifications:
  • Normally Technologist Diploma (3 years) in mechanical, electrical, or other appropriate technology.
  • Demonstrated industry experience is a strong asset.
  • Able to understand and apply engineering instructions and work from technical documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of design principles, standards, techniques, and administrative practices.
  • General knowledge of relevant company products, processes, and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must communicate effectively orally and in writing with other design staff and peers in other departments.
  • Normal Drawing Office conditions.
  • May be required to work some overtime in peak periods.
  • May be required to work in Active area (i.e., qualify as a Nuclear Energy Worker) for short periods.
