About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Educational Support Specialist to join our team at First Step Kids. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany students during school and extracurricular activities, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Assist in the school library or office, helping to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Help students individually or in small groups with assignments, reinforcing learning and retention concepts under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the school principal, ensuring the smooth operation of the school.
  • Supervise students during school and extracurricular activities, promoting a safe and respectful environment.
  • Monitor students during recess and lunch hour, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Assist students with integration into the classroom and school setting, helping them to feel welcome and included.
  • Assist with classroom inventory, ensuring that all materials and resources are organized and easily accessible.
  • Monitor and report student progress to the classroom teacher, providing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Assist the teacher in the operation of projectors, tape recorders, and other audio-visual or electronic equipment, ensuring that technology is used effectively to support learning.
Requirements
  • Criminal record check.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting the school's mission and values.
