Job Overview

The Chief Process Optimization Engineer will apply their extensive engineering expertise to enhance the design, execution, and performance of the Innovation Centre (CEIC) plant. The responsibilities will be tailored to the facility's needs, but will include developing and implementing engineering solutions to improve performance and reliability, analyzing system performance, and preparing technical reports.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering, production, and maintenance teams in troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues.
  • Lead event investigations and generate effective, implementable actions to minimize future process deviances.
  • Apply technical knowledge to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Identify and develop needed improvements to plant systems in order to achieve our technical objectives.
  • Create and/or authorize engineering documents where required within scope of practice to support (P&IDs, PFDs, GAs).
  • Generate control narratives to allow the implementation of process control objectives by the controls team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Master's degree or PhD considered an asset, but not required.
  • Registered PEng at EGBC, or eligibility to register for PEng at EGBC.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical industry.
  • In-depth understanding of chemical plant operations, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent with accessing and utilizing process database tools (PI, SEEQ) to evaluate system performance.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a chemical plant environment, including exposure to various chemicals and operating conditions.

About the Role

This role is based in Squamish, BC.

What We Offer

We provide a competitive compensation package, including extended health benefits. The base salary for this role is between $119,850 to $160,000 with additional bonus pay. We also offer benefits and paid time off.

Our location in the outdoor recreation hub of Squamish gives you access to world-class skiing, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, and other outdoor activities within minutes of the office, while in close proximity to Vancouver, one of the most beautiful and culturally diverse cities in Canada.
