As the Regional Environment Market Leader in Ontario, you'll drive the performance, vision, and growth of the environment market across the province, collaborating with various Partners across Canada and throughout the enterprise. This role requires ongoing interaction and influence across Canada in tandem with Western and Eastern Canada Environment Market Leaders, as well as Canada and US National Environment Market Leaders. You'll work closely with other Ontario Regional Market Leaders in Water, Transportation, Property & Buildings, National Sector Leaders, Environment Business Group Leaders, Client Relationship Managers, Service Line Leaders, and other leaders within the business to develop and execute the strategic vision for the Environment Market across Ontario and the Canadian Environment market strategy and business plan with a focus on profitable and sustainable growth of GHD's private, public, and federal sector clients. You'll develop and adopt best practices, systems, processes, and tools necessary to continuously improve and transform GHD's environment business, positioning GHD strategically in the market through differentiated value propositions, thought leadership, and brand elevation. You'll also lead the development of strategic offerings and proposals that support growth and diversification of the environment market, prioritize clients and industry sectors aligned with GHD's strategy, vision, and core values, collaborate with leaders across the environment market, technical services, and operations to execute and deliver projects, and support the recruiting, retention, and development of talent across the environment market in Ontario. There will also be opportunities to play the role of Project Director on exciting, large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop GHD's Ontario environment business, focusing on creating medium- and long-term opportunities to enable GHD's strong growth aspirations
  • Lead environment business development efforts for Ontario and collaborate with ENV Market Leader team across Canada for national strategy approach
  • Assess market trends and strategize towards future projects, programs, and differentiated solutions
  • Identify areas of practice within Region based on client feedback and/or market trends that require enhancement to meet present or future opportunities
  • Increase business by improving and strengthening new and existing client relationships, expanding the client base by promoting GHD's integrated solutions for the market in Ontario, Canada, and across the Americas, consistent with GHD's enterprise strategy and business plans
  • Drive continued integration of Digital and Advisory into the Environment Market offerings, including new developments in project delivery and execution
  • Support effective delivery, serving as a Project Director on appropriate projects/programs
  • Collaborate with other Market Leaders to position and win multidisciplinary projects within the Region
  • Represent and promote GHD at networking events, professional and industrial associations, society meetings, conferences, and tradeshows
  • Attract strategic hires for the Market

Performance Metrics:

  • Sustainable and profitable growth of the Ontario Environment Market revenue and backlog to support the overall Canadian Environment Market growth strategy
  • Growth and diversification of Environment Market core business, integrated technical solutions, and emerging high-value propositions
  • Develop a strong pipeline through promotion and utilization of business tools such as Salesforce and Business Intelligence solutions
  • Manage and mitigate risks within the Ontario Environment Market
  • Assist and lead major projects to ensure delivery outcomes for the Ontario Environment Market, particularly focused on strategic pursuits and new market developments
  • Improve tender/proposal success rates
  • Effective management of designated budgets
  • Actively participate in the integrated approach to market for all GHD services, liaising with Operational leaders and Technical Leaders

Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer, Professional Geoscientist, Professional Biologist, Environmental Planner, or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience leading an environmental business and demonstrated market growth
  • Experience with corporate strategic planning initiatives and demonstrated ability to develop and operationalize successful strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of the overall Environmental Market in Ontario and more broadly across Canada, including future influences and trends
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, with ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in personnel management, decision making, change management, employee development, performance management, and team building skills
  • Strong business acumen and commercial skills, including exceptional client experience skills
  • Agile self-starter with proactive, strategic, and creative approach
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication
  • Willingness and ability to travel
