At Norfolk County, we are seeking highly motivated individuals to fill the role of Aquatic Training Professional, working in our aquatic division. This dynamic team is responsible for delivering high-quality swim classes and programs to the community.

Overview

The Aquatic Training Professional will work closely with experienced instructors to assist with the instruction of various swim classes by organizing equipment, performing demonstrations of skills and strokes, providing feedback, and supporting participants as needed.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and help with lesson planning and leading activities during lessons. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act standards, and participating in facility maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Instructor Guards with swim class instruction and program development
  • Maintain equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and clean environment
  • Participate in special pool programs, events, and water safety initiatives
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Provide excellent customer service at the aquatic center
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of 15 years old and intent to complete aquatic qualifications to become fully certified
  • Current enrollment in secondary education or an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis
  • A current LSS Bronze Cross certificate
  • Standard First Aid with C.P.R. Level C certification
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Awareness of safe work practices and a basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
