Job Summary

This role is focused on providing exceptional customer service and performing routine clerical tasks. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective performance of clerical and receptionist duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and timely typing services for a variety of materials, including correspondence and reports.
  • Offer information and assistance to the public and other departments on matters requiring working knowledge of department procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Process, check, and maintain a range of office records, files, reports, statistics, documents, and related materials.
  • Act as a receptionist for the work area, greeting, responding, and redirecting customers.
  • Operate a variety of standard office software and equipment.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Six (6) months recent experience in a front-line customer service role.
  • 50 awpm typing speed.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Beginner proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the applicable regulations, policies, and practices that govern departmental activities.
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with members of the public, other City staff, and elected officials.
  • Ability to represent the City and Department in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment and software.
