As a Solution Test Engineer at Arista, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our products. You will be responsible for testing complex end-to-end environments, focusing on key technologies and emulating our customers' networks by:

  • researching technologies, features, and customer environments to create suitable topologies
  • exercising extensive feature interaction and identifying potential breakage areas
  • conducting exhaustive testing on realistic use cases, scale, and performance

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various stakeholders from development, sales, and other test teams to understand requirements and expectations. You will plan and build network topologies, configure hardware, features, traffic generators, and other tools to emulate required environments. You will execute comprehensive test plans, troubleshoot failures and performance shortcomings, and communicate results to stakeholders while providing feedback and recommendations.

Key Qualifications
  • Masters degree in telecommunications, computer engineering, or computer networking
  • At least 3 years of experience in System Test or Solution Test roles, handling complex end-to-end environments
  • Detailed working knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 technologies, such as IP forwarding, OSPF, BGP, VXLAN, MPLS, eVPN, ECMP, VRRP, STP, RSTP, MST, PVST+, Ethernet link aggregation, LACP, etc.
  • Familiarity with Linux tools like ping, traceroute, tcpdump, ifconfig, ip link, ip route, arp, /proc/net, /proc/sys/net, vmstat, netstat, ttcp, iperf, and strace
  • Some familiarity with scripting languages like Python or TCL
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $105,000 to $145,000 per year, based on factors including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity. Employees are also entitled to benefits, including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, income protection, and a Group Retirement Savings Plan.
