About the Role

The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT Polytechnic is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Educational Technologist to support the Medical Laboratory Science programs. As a key member of the Clinical Support Services team, you will be responsible for setting up laboratories, managing equipment maintenance, and coordinating supply orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with staff to meet course needs, including supplies, ordering, and setup for Medical Laboratory Science programs
  • Prepare and implement course lab plans, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment
  • Manage annual medical laboratory equipment maintenance requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Operate within program supply budgets and maintain inventory control, minimizing waste and optimizing resources
  • Initiate supply and equipment orders with approval from the Academic Chair, ensuring timely delivery and quality
  • Coordinate the disposal of biohazardous wastes and chemicals, adhering to safety protocols and regulations
  • Manage capital asset inventory and disposals, ensuring accurate records and compliance with SAIT policies
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of medical laboratory related equipment vendor relations, negotiating quotes and contracts
  • Provide feedback for continuous program improvement, ensuring the highest quality educational experience for students
  • Participate in program, portfolio, School, and SAIT events and meetings, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Promote professionalism and safety in the workplace, adhering to SAIT's values and mission
Requirements
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate required; Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) Diploma preferred
  • 2 years of experience as an MLA or MLT, with a focus on clinical microbiology, histology, and/or molecular diagnostics
  • Registered or eligible for registration with CMLTA and/or CSMLS
  • Fluent in English reading and vocabulary, with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Basic level of proficiency working in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret lab procedures, with a strong understanding of medical laboratory equipment and technology
