Job Overview

Nurses working with the Youth In-House Treatment Program at Shared Health provide high-quality care to clients engaged in addiction treatment. This role requires a client-centered approach, commitment to professional development, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

  10. Effectively manage emotions and maintain a calm composure under challenging circumstances.

  12. Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
Requirements
  1. A minimum of one year experience in individual and group counseling.
  2. A minimum of one year nursing experience, with proven knowledge of current nursing theory and practice.
Education and Certification
  1. Graduate of an approved Registered Psychiatric Nursing program or approved Registered Nursing program required.
  2. Maintain active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  3. Active participation in professional associations, such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM), is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  1. Familiarity with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses/Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses.
  2. Knowledge of the College of Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses of Manitoba Code of Ethics for Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses.
  3. Understanding of the scope of practice as documented in the Health Professions Act of Manitoba.
  4. Awareness of applicable policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  5. Nursing care knowledge related to the clinical area.
  6. Knowledge of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions), and other legislated acts.
  7. Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
  8. Knowledge of principles of delegation.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills, contributing to a positive multidisciplinary team environment.
  10. Knowledge of the addictions field and experience in mental health are considered assets.
  11. An understanding of and sensitivity to working with culturally diverse populations is essential.
  12. Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in English is required.
  13. Familiarity with French and Indigenous language skills is considered an asset.
