Professor of Electrical Techniques

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Professor of Electrical Techniques to join our team at Humber College. As a Professor of Electrical Techniques, you will be responsible for teaching subjects in the Electrical Techniques Post-Secondary and/or the Electrical Apprenticeship program.
Key Responsibilities- Teach subjects in the Electrical Techniques Post-Secondary and/or the Electrical Apprenticeship program, including Electrical Theory, Code, Instrumentation, Installation Programmable Logic Controllers, and Hydraulics.
- Deliver lecture and practical labs, and encourage student learning in a culturally diverse setting.
- Classroom management and evaluation, use of Humber's LMS system – BlackBoard, designing and developing courses and labs, program promotion, recommending program advisory committee members, and contributing to the overall direction of the department.
- Provide leadership in partnership development with particular emphasis on securing collaborative, industry-driven student projects.
- Teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement, work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations.
- Support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs, and develop and maintain strong industry ties.
The successful candidate will have Journeyperson Certification as well as a minimum of 8-9 years of relevant industry experience and teaching experience in the electrical field. Formal studies in adult or higher education, a Master Electrician, and/or Baccalaureate is also an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake and/or demonstrate successful completion of a recognized Adult Education Certificate.
The successful candidate should possess teaching ability and an understanding of the learning process. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong written and oral communication skills, engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student-focused approach, and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player, and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well-developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
