Job Summary

The Payroll and HR Coordinator reports to the Regional Controller, Calgary Plastic Division, and is responsible for processing hourly payroll for Calgary Plastics. This role also involves maintaining account balancing records for payroll and benefit-related GL accounts, handling documentation for new employees and terminations, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports (including T4's).

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process weekly payroll for all hourly paid employees, verifying reports and transmitting payroll to ADP, and producing payroll journal entries.
  2. Process employee terminations, ensuring completion of final pay and vacation pay entitlements, issuing Record of Employment (ROE), and terminating employee benefits according to company policy.
  3. Maintain employee pension files, including submission of enrolment, change, and termination forms to the carrier, and reconcile payroll and benefit accounts on a monthly basis.
  4. Recruit and onboard hourly employees, coordinate safety and other training, and perform other duties as required.
Functional Requirements

This role requires regular use of computers, telephones, and office equipment, as well as the ability to manage complex tasks, read and understand Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and follow food, safety, and quality procedures.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary education, preferably with a focus on human resources or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field, preferably in payroll and human resources.
Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
