Canonical is seeking a skilled Security Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will play a critical role in protecting the open source community and Ubuntu users from emerging threats.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of security professionals to identify, prioritize, and address vulnerabilities in open source software. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and implement effective security strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and fix vulnerabilities in Ubuntu packages
- Monitor and track vulnerabilities in Ubuntu releases
- Collaborate with upstream developers to exchange or develop vulnerability patches
- Audit source code for vulnerabilities
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and techniques for fixing them
- Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices
- Familiarity with open source development tools and methodologies
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, or PHP)
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team and community members
