Job Summary

The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dietary Technician to join our team. As a Dietary Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the nutritional quality and food safety of meals provided to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Preparation: Adapt and verify menus for users and staff, and perform all necessary compilations and reports.
  • Clinical Nutrition Services: Visit users to gather information about their diet and provide stakeholders with required information.
  • Food Safety and Quality Assurance: Control the preparation and serving of food, and guide staff in implementing work and hygiene techniques.
  • Recipe Development and Cost Control: Develop, experiment, standardize recipes, and calculate cost prices.
  • Stock Control and Management: Participate in the qualitative and quantitative control of stocks according to established specifications.
Requirements
  • Education: Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in Dietetics Techniques from a recognized school.
  • Certifications: Food Safety and Hygiene Certification recognized by the MAPAQ (Ministère de L'Agriculture, des Pêcheries, de l'Alimentation du Québec).
  • Experience: At least one year of experience, with two years of relevant experience being an asset.
  • Language: Fluency in English, with fluency in Cree or French being an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Skills: Excellent knowledge of nutrition theory and practice, food services management, current trends, and the MSSS Network and regulations.
  • Cultural Competence: Knowledge of Cree culture and language, and social/health determinants in Eeyou Istchee is an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office suite computer applications.
