Job Title: Bricklayer Helper

We are seeking a skilled Bricklayer Helper to join our team at TAVARES MASONRY LTD. The successful candidate will assist in various aspects of masonry work, including loading and unloading materials, cleaning and lubricating equipment, and assisting in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites.

Work Environment

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. They will be required to work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, and in various locations, including urban areas and construction sites.

Responsibilities
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials
  • Clean and lubricate cranes and other equipment
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades
  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites
  • Assist in demolishing buildings
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials
  • Perform routine maintenance work
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
  • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, or other masonry units
  • Lay bricks, stone, or similar materials to provide veneer facing
  • Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
  • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
  • Lay radial bricks to build masonry shells of industrial chimneys
  • Lay or install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks
Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the field
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various locations
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and work in a physically demanding environment
