Job Description

Technical Network Specialist, Intermediate Level

As a key member of the Network Services team at BC Ferries, you will play a critical role in managing and supporting all aspects of a complex and diverse infrastructure, including wired and wireless data networks for our shipboard and land-based networks. You will collaborate with other team members in areas such as routing and switching, security, wireless, and voice.

Your role will provide technical expertise and problem-solving in the areas of performance management, network administration, network troubleshooting, and capacity planning. You will have an excellent understanding of how to efficiently build, maintain, and support complex network environments.

You will have experience with Cisco product lines, including routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as wireless data networks and their associated protocols to ensure the stability of the wireless data network through spread spectrum radio, cellular, and satellite technologies. You will also have experience with various network security technologies, including intrusion prevention/detection, VPN, firewalls, and NG-FWs.

You will have a Degree or Diploma in Computer Systems or equivalent experience in an enterprise IT organization. Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification would be an asset.

You will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to consistently achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. You will have a proven ability to develop and implement solutions and to affect organizational change in an energetic, fast-paced environment.

You will be focused on delivering effective, quality technical solutions to meet the organization's needs. Preference will be given to candidates having experience with Software Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN), Cisco ASA firewalls, and Data Centre technologies.
