Associate Food Service Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Food Service Manager to join our team at the Dining Hall on campus at Carleton University. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dining hall, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, and providing leadership to a team of unionized supervisors and food service associates.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operation of the dining hall
- Provide leadership to a team of unionized supervisors and food service associates
- Ensure the daily operation of the dining hall runs smoothly
- Schedule dining hall staff, call in replacements, verify time cards, and assist with inventory
- Conduct staff huddles, health and safety audits, and ensure food safety and sanitation is upheld
- Shared responsibility for recruitment, pre-screening, onboarding, and training of new staff
- Develop and motivate supervisory staff to attain proper standards of performance
- Liaison with the Marketing Manager to launch marketing initiatives and promotions
We are looking for a candidate with a diploma in Hospitality Management or Food and Beverage Management, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role in a high-volume, fast-paced operation. Managing within a unionized setting is an asset. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of food safety, food handling, and sanitation standards and expectations, as well as well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to direct teams in daily operations.
