Associate Food Service Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Food Service Manager to join our team at the Dining Hall on campus at Carleton University. This position reports into the Senior Food Service Manager and works with other Food Service Managers and in conjunction with the culinary team to oversee the day-to-day operations for this location.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operation to ensure smooth daily operations of the campus dining hall.
- Provide leadership to a team of unionized supervisors and food service associates, ensuring they meet proper standards of performance.
- Schedule dining hall staff, call in replacements, verify time cards, and assist with inventory management.
- Conduct staff huddles, Health and Safety audits, and ensure food safety and sanitation are upheld.
- Shared responsibility for recruitment, pre-screening, onboarding, and training of new staff.
- Develop and motivate supervisory staff to attain proper standards of performance.
- Liaise with the Marketing Manager to launch marketing initiatives and promotions.
• Diploma in Hospitality Management or Food and Beverage Management is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in a similar role in a high volume, fast-paced operation is an asset.
• Managing within a unionized setting is an asset.
• Thorough understanding of food safety, food handling, and sanitation standards and expectations.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to direct teams in daily operations.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and work within a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel is required for administrative tasks.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
