Job Summary:

The Youth Engagement Facilitator - Prevention Specialist is a key member of the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc team, responsible for leading and facilitating workshops in high schools and youth groups to prevent sexual exploitation and promote healthy relationship skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver group workshops for youth aged 14-18 in high schools and youth groups, with a focus on engaging boys and young men in the prevention of sexual exploitation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with educators, teachers, social workers in school divisions, and youth group leaders to promote the program and services.
  • Provide presentations and trainings for community groups, including parents and teachers, on healthy relationships and prevention of sexual exploitation.
  • Develop and expand workshop materials and content to meet the needs of diverse groups, including parents and teachers.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement program strategies to prevent sexual exploitation and promote healthy relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, youth work, social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in high school education, social work in a school or youth-serving setting, youth support services, or a related field.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with youth and partners in the education field.
  • Knowledge of youth development and the challenges that young people face, including social, emotional, mental, and relational issues.
  • Ability to discuss sensitive topics, such as relationships, sexuality, and exploitation, in a positive and empowering way with young people.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and values, with the ability to support Indigenous youth and communities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
