The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Youth Mentor within our Hands of Mother Earth (H.O.M.E) Care Home. This facility is committed to fostering a nurturing and secure atmosphere for at-risk youth aged 13-17 years. Operating 24/7, H.O.M.E offers a six-bed capacity with comprehensive assessment and support services aimed at promoting healing and stability for both residents and their families.

Work Schedule:

Weekdays: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm

Evenings: Thursday/Friday 4 pm - 12 am & Saturday/Sunday 8 am - 8 pm

Alternative Evenings: Monday/Tuesday 4 pm - 12 am & Saturday/Sunday 8 am - 8 pm

Weekend Shifts: Saturday/Sunday 8 am - 8 pm

National Occupation Code: 42201

Employment Type: Full-Time, Part-Time

Qualifications:

  • Child & Youth Care Diploma or a relevant equivalent with related experience.
  • Prior experience in a Care Home setting is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop caseloads and Healing Plans tailored for the youth.
  • Provide oversight and support to residents.
  • Skills in program development and facilitation.
  • Engage and collaborate with external agencies regarding service recipients.
  • Understanding of the implications of sexual exploitation/abuse on youth and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Child Welfare Legislation and Standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Awareness of Indigenous values and community challenges.
  • Current First Aid/CPR with AED, Level C certification is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
