Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deli Department Manager to join our team at Fortinos. As a Deli Department Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the deli department, providing customers with the best quality of deli, cheese, and pasta products, and ensuring courteous, timely customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise all deli staff to secure efficient and courteous customer service;
  • Order deli/cheese and pasta products and supplies;
  • Organize and set up the department, ensuring proper signage is received, made up, and put up correctly;
  • Ensure all price changes are processed and "special" items are identified;
  • Maximize sales and gross profit, ensuring sales' goals and budgets are met;
  • Organize any damages and be responsible for ensuring all returns are taken care of;
  • Train new employees;
  • Schedule all deli clerks, ensuring the strict control of wage costs;
  • Interpret and administer Company policy and ensure compliance with the union contract;
  • Ensure the maintenance of equipment and the safety and sanitation of the department;
  • Respond to any customer inquiries, requests, and complaints, ensuring courteous customer relations at all times.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional customer service skills;
  • A minimum of 2-5 years' deli experience in a retail grocery environment, with previous management experience a definite asset;
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours, including days, evenings, and weekends;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure;
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
