Job Title: Busser - Gallery Lounge & Patio

Job Summary:

The Alma Mater Society (AMS) of the University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a Busser to join our team. As a Busser, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of our food and beverage areas, ensuring a professional impression for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent guest service, adhering to AMS standards and procedures
  • Clear tables and bar areas, properly dispose of recycling and food waste, and alert custodial to ensure floors are clean and dry
  • Assist guests in public areas, answering questions and providing directions
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to AMS food safety procedures
  • Demonstrate excellent grooming and uniform standards, according to AMS procedures
  • Work with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department

Requirements:

  • Preference given to currently registered UBC students
  • Previous experience in a food service environment an asset
  • Food Safe certification is an asset
  • Serving-It-Right certificate is an asset
  • Language: required to speak, read, and write English
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure

We operate nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting UBC students.
