Job Summary

The Alma Mater Society (AMS) of the University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a Busser to join our team in the Gallery Lounge & Patio. As a Busser, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of our food and beverage areas, providing excellent guest service, and working collaboratively with our team to ensure a positive experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional guest service by clearing tables and bar areas, disposing of recycling and food waste, and ensuring floors are clean and dry at all times.
  • Assist guests in public areas by answering questions and providing directions, resulting in excellent guest relations.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge about products, AMS services, and businesses, as well as the venue and other services within the Student Union Building and on campus.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to AMS food safety procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrate excellent grooming and uniform standards according to AMS procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Preference given to currently registered UBC students.
  • Previous experience in a food service environment is an asset.
  • Food Safe certification is an asset.
  • Serving-It-Right certificate is an asset.
  • Language: required to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 12kgs (26.5lbs).
