The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is dedicated to enhancing the academic, social, and personal experiences of the student body at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The AMS operates various food and beverage establishments, catering services, and the AMS Student Nest, providing valuable employment opportunities while reinvesting revenue to support UBC students.

Role Overview:

The Dining Room Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of all dining areas within the establishment, presenting a professional image to our patrons. The ideal candidate possesses a friendly demeanor and enjoys engaging with guests while being proactive in their duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional guest service in alignment with AMS standards and protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness by clearing tables and bar areas, properly disposing of waste, and notifying custodial staff to ensure a safe environment.
  • Assist patrons in public spaces by addressing inquiries and providing guidance, fostering positive guest relations.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of menu items, AMS services, and additional offerings within the Student Union Building and campus.
  • Uphold a clean and secure work environment.
  • Adhere to AMS food safety regulations consistently.
  • Maintain high grooming and uniform standards as per AMS guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the AMS mission and values to contribute to a successful operation.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to current UBC students.
  • Previous experience in the food service industry is advantageous.
  • Food Safe certification is beneficial.
  • Serving-It-Right certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Quick learning ability.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 12kgs (26.5lbs).
