The successful candidate will have a strong background in database management systems, with experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
Main Responsibilities- Design and develop distributed database systems, ensuring they meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement proof-of-concept systems and components, including data managers, buffer managers, and transaction processing components.
- Investigate and design new data structures and algorithms, focusing on lockless and NUMA-aware approaches on the latest hardware technology.
- Continuously enhance the distributed database system to fulfill customer requirements for self-tuning under varying workload conditions.
- Mentor junior colleagues on algorithm design, data structure, and software engineering aspects, focusing on high-performance scalable code.
- Collaborate with QA and continuous integration teams to drive quality solutions through automated unit tests, functional testing, and system testing.
- Proficient in C and C++ programming languages.
- At least 10 years' experience in designing and developing distributed databases or storage systems, file systems, or cache systems.
- Experience in open-source communities is an asset.
- Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills.
- Publication history and patent success is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Telecommunications; Master's or PhD is an asset.
The estimated annual salary for this position is $180,000-$220,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
