Job Summary

POWER Engineers is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Department in Toronto. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and supporting transmission line design efforts, including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead transmission design efforts with projects ranging from 34.5kV-500kV
  • Prepare and check design deliverables, including plan and profiles drawings, material selection, and construction specifications
  • Perform quality reviews for both internal and subcontractor deliverables
  • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Manage and develop project estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support
  • Evaluate design options, criteria, and routes for technical merit
  • Understand construction standards and requirements for high voltage line work
  • Coordinate with contractor and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Civil (BSCE), Mechanical (BSME), or Electrical (BSEE) degree from an accredited university
  • Experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines, including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages
  • Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.)
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in transmission line design
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Microstation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line construction
  • Distribution/underbuild design experience
  • Understanding of CSA, ASCE, and IEC standards
  • Project management and leadership skills
