About the Position

Edmonton EXPO Centre seeks a Temporary Agriculture Specialist (12-18 month contract) to join our Community Initiatives and Agriculture team. This role involves extensive experience and knowledge of various sectors within the agriculture industry, including small and large livestock production, animal care best practices, forage and cropping, food production, and the value-add chain.

The ideal candidate will have developed, implemented, and coordinated agricultural programs and experiences that connect urban and rural communities while supporting the business of agriculture. Key responsibilities include delivering agriculture experiences at KDays, Farmfair International, and Canadian Finals Rodeo.

We are looking for an individual who can positively influence decisions and outcomes by sharing agriculture knowledge, seeking agriculture options from their network, and problem-solving. This position requires resilience, composure, and the ability to bridge the values of the farm with those of Explore Edmonton.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Post-secondary education in agriculture, business, or event management;
  • Four years of experience in agriculture programming with knowledge of the agriculture industry;
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite and previous experience with ShoWorks.

What You Can Expect

This role offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including developing and implementing agricultural programs and experiences. You will also be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about connecting people to food and farming within the city limits.
