Strategic Health and Wellness Manager

Job Summary:
The Toronto District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Health, Wellness, and Abilities to join our team. This is a permanent position that will provide strategic leadership and expertise in developing and managing comprehensive health, wellness, and workplace abilities programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the System Officer in defining the Health, Wellness, and Abilities offices' strategy, ensuring alignment with People and Culture strategy and priorities, and TDSB organizational goals.
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of health, wellness, and workplace abilities programs that foster staff well-being, resilience, and an inclusive workplace.
- Oversee workplace abilities initiatives, such as accommodations, flexible work arrangements, and proactive wellness strategies to enhance employee performance and productivity.
- Lead the Attendance Awareness Program, including attendance tracking, setting key performance indicators (KPI's), and collaborating with management to drive performance improvements.
- Oversee the Disability Management Program, ensuring efficient processing of disability claims, including STLDP, WSIB, LTD transitions, and managing relationships with Independent Medical Exams (IME) providers.
- Lead and execute the Board's accessibility strategy, including AODA compliance, ensuring that accessibility is integrated into all processes, products, and services.
- Responsible for the effective management and leadership of staff, including recruitment and selection, training, and development, coaching and mentoring, and performance evaluation.
- Leverage expertise in workplace health and wellness to provide strategic advice and guidance to senior leaders on complex health-related issues.
- Collaborate with Communities of Expertise (CoE's), internal departments, and external providers to ensure integrated support for employee health and well-being.
- Lead communication efforts to engage staff in health and wellness programs and develop training programs for managers and employees.
- Facilitate and oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing review of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory changes.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs through data analysis, program outcomes, and employee feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor industry trends, best practices, and legislative developments to proactively identify program enhancements and mitigate potential challenges.
- Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services.
- Develop, review, and monitor the Unit budget, including expenditure review and authorization, and forecasts.
- Participate at hearings, tribunals, grievances, and arbitrations as needed.
- Prepare reports for the Executive Officer and other stakeholders, as required.
- Chair, attend/or participate in various committees and meetings with People and Culture, CoE representatives, unions, associations, and federations, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
