Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Community Inclusion Supervisor. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing organization, Canadian Pacific Railway, and contribute to the success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Mechanical Manager in planning, scheduling, and assigning manpower to specific jobs within the Freight Car Repair and Freight Car Inspection departments.
  2. Ensure that all repairs and/or servicing are performed in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with Company, Association of American Railroads (AAR), and Transport Canada (TC) regulations.
  3. Conduct job briefings, end of shift briefings, safety meetings, and activities to ensure safety rules, procedures, and policies are adhered to.
  4. Correct and document safety incidents, safety hazards/concerns, and investigate for corrective actions to the various departments.
  5. Support, communicate, and deliver to key performance indicators, leading to ensure all direct reports have an understanding of the business objectives and their role.
  6. Communicate and interact regularly with management within field operations to ensure Freight Car repair and train servicing meet the expectations of internal and external customers.
  7. Ensure there is an appropriate level of stock/material and is responsible for ordering within prescribed limits through the SAP system.
  8. Maintain communication and foster positive working relationships with local union officials, ensuring the collective agreement is understood and managed as it is written.
  9. Support and participate in Consequence Leadership, providing employees with positive and constructive feedback throughout the shift.
  10. Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and effectiveness of the operation, supporting Lean Philosophy and Principals.
  11. Ensure Freight Car bad order repair, cycle time, dwell time, productivity, and key metrics are met, coordinating with Field Operations to ensure over the road set-offs of bad order Freight Cars are repaired in a timely manner.
  12. Ensure repairs and train servicing are in compliance with AAR, TC standards, and Canadian Pacific policies.
  13. Support mechanical forces at train incidents within their jurisdiction, adhering to the guidelines of the Emergency Response Plan.
  14. Communicate and interact regularly with local/external counterparts.
  15. Work directly with employees in the shop & yard environments to establish self-managed work teams and provide guidance and support to employees to bring about the vision of an empowered and engaged workforce.
Requirements
  1. Must possess a minimum of a High school diploma or mechanical trade certification.
  2. Proficient knowledge of railway operations (road, yard, freight car, mechanical).
  3. Working knowledge of CPKC systems (CIM, TYES, Nexus, SAP, and Wreck Estimator) is an asset.
  4. Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  5. Knowledge of collective agreement/non-union policies.
  6. Mechanical aptitude.
  7. Must be able to work with a vast array of employees and be adaptable.
  8. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather.
  9. Must be able to work shift work.
  10. Ability to drill down, understand root cause, and resolve complex issues.
