Job Summary

The Immigrant and Transitional Education Pathway Specialist provides academic advising and support to students in the School of ESL and Immigrant Education, as well as the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences. This role empowers students to make informed decisions about their post-secondary education journeys.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to student inquiries and concerns through individual and group information sessions.
  • Collaborate with faculty, alumni, and community agencies to plan and deliver group information sessions and workshops.
  • Conduct one-on-one student advising appointments, providing guidance on post-secondary education systems and processes.
  • Refer students to appropriate services and resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and other departments to facilitate student academic transitions.
  • Provide program choice planning for students, based on knowledge of college systems and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of student cases and track student progress.
  • Support student retention, persistence, graduation, and success.
  • Develop and implement student satisfaction assessment methods.
  • Create digital materials to support student pathway navigation.
  • Generate and review reports to inform School decision-making.
  • Monitor articulation and internal pathway agreements to maximize student opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Three-year diploma, degree, or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Arts, Humanities, Social Services, Community Services, or Counselling.
  • ESL training an asset.
  • Minimum three years of practical experience in a demanding service environment with experience advising students/applicants in an educational setting.
