Hospital Support Services Staff

We are seeking a reliable and flexible individual to fill the role of Casual Food Service Worker II at Slocan Community Hospital. The selected candidate must be able to work a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
The shifts for this position include:
- 10:48 to 18:30
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a valid Food Safe Certificate.
As a member of our support services team, your duties will include:
- Portioning and serving meals and beverages within a dining room and/or cafeteria operation
- Sets tables and trays with items including condiments, utensils, and napkins
- Collects and unloads food service wagons
- Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit
- Prepares items such as meat, fish or poultry for procedures including grinding, flouring and breading
- Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients for assigned food preparation area
- Prepares beverages and food items such as sandwich fillings, nourishments and therapeutic diet items including tube feedings and milkshakes
- Washing dishes and utensils
- Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and washing floors, cleaning counter tops and tables
- Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, running diet sheets off the computer and writing information on menu cards
- Receiving supplies and checking goods received against invoices
- Takes and records temperature of hot foods at point of service
This is a casual position with opportunities to gain permanent and temporary work, cross-training into other areas of support services and beyond. We offer competitive salary and benefits, including employer-paid health and wellness benefits including pension plan and group life benefits.
The estimated salary for this role is $28-$32 per hour, based on industry standards and location. This rate may vary depending on experience and qualifications.
