About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) student to join our team at Pratt & Whitney. As an EH&S student, you will have the unique opportunity to work in both an office setting and on the manufacturing plant floor, supporting environmental and safety initiatives for the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the EH&S department in achieving 100% compliance to corporate and regulatory EH&S requirements, including closing out actions identified during previous audits.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing best practices for reduction of waste, water use, and energy consumption.
  • Provide support for EH&S programs related to risk identification and mitigation, including ergonomics and chemical exposures.
  • Lead projects focused on wastewater discharge compliance, worker chemical exposures, carbon footprint reduction, and overall risk reduction initiatives.
  • Assist in developing business case documents for proposed capital projects related to environment, health, and safety.
  • Develop EH&S training materials and communicate initiatives to employees.
  • Assist in incident investigations, trending, and implementation of corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout the internship.
  • Be able to work on-site in the province where hired.
  • Must be enrolled in the Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering program.

What We Offer

As an EH&S student at Pratt & Whitney, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with a focus on sustainability and compliance. You will be part of a small site-specific EH&S team, working closely with the Plant 41 EH&S team to support environmental and safety initiatives for the site.

Work Environment

The EH&S student will work in a manufacturing environment, with occasional outdoor work and exposure to both team and independent tasks. The student will be required to attend and actively participate in various committee meetings.
