UI/UX Lead Job Description

At Turbulent, we're seeking a highly skilled UI/UX Lead to join our team and help shape the user experience of our flagship projects, including Star Citizen and Squadron 42.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with our Game Design and Game Art teams to create innovative and immersive experiences for players.
  • Develop beautiful, scientific UI concepts that work seamlessly with game and environment screens.
  • Implement content in the game engine using our in-house development tools.
  • Mentor junior UI artists and other team members, assisting in their professional development.
  • Collaborate with the UI, UX team to evaluate project scope plans, timelines, and risks.
  • Discuss visual guideline points with game designers and art directors, brainstorm ideas, and reinforce artistic and user vision.
  • Supervise the development of UI/UX deliverables, including customer journey maps and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Oversee interdependent teams, ensuring progress, standards, deadlines, and quality are met.
  • Motivate, coach, and support the UI design team, especially in training and professional development.
  • Work closely with the UI Director to ensure creative vision is translated into the game.
Requirements:
  • At least 7 years of experience as a UI/UX designer or relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of user-centered principles and techniques.
  • Experience with Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects) and prototyping tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and mentoring skills.
  • Efficient presentation skills to explain strategies and design choices to a diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of project management software (e.g., Jira), agile, and lean methods, as well as game design principles.
