Position Overview

In this role, you will operate under general supervision to execute preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, and commissioning of building automation control systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, onsite interactions with clients. You may also support senior specialists, project managers, engineers, and designers in functional testing and system validation. A solid understanding of the principles that govern Building Control systems is essential, along with the ability to adapt to new products and strategies as they are introduced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety standards set by Carrier and our clients, promoting safety awareness at work sites.
  • Engage with customers upon arrival and prior to departure, ensuring a high level of satisfaction. Regularly meet with customer representatives to familiarize yourself with their facility operations.
  • Identify and communicate outstanding issues, recommending system enhancements, upgrades, or repairs. Be observant of additional opportunities to resolve issues and collaborate with the service team to design and estimate solutions.
  • Conduct system maintenance according to established service practices, including field controllers, servers, workstations, and hardware. Provide feedback on equipment scheduling and necessary modifications to the service team and their supervisor.
  • Manage assigned tasks effectively to ensure professional execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Report any issues or changes to management immediately, following company policies and procedures. Work professionally with service coordinators, account managers, and project managers to coordinate activities as needed.
  • Provide training to customers on the operation of their specific control systems, delivering necessary documentation as required.
  • Follow a structured learning path and engage in extensive self-study to enhance and maintain technical proficiency in Carrier's product lines, completing certifications as mandated.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required documentation, including timesheets, expense reports, work orders, onsite documentation, and project status reports, in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to guidance from the service manager or team members.

Required Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree from a recognized college or university in building HVAC with a focus on building automation controls (3- or 4-year program) or a High School diploma with 3+ years of experience in HVAC building automation controls.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in the HVAC controls industry.
  • Possession of a valid and current Driver's License, with insurability by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Willingness to travel more than 75% of the typical work week, including air travel and overnight stays, as well as participation in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Capability to climb ladders or use lift equipment exceeding 8 feet and to lift items up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with customers.
  • Knowledge of systems software to read, test, and modify logic as necessary.
  • Proficiency in downloading and troubleshooting basic HVAC system logic using WebCTRL and related software.
  • Good understanding of troubleshooting methods and practices.
  • Entry-level knowledge of WebCTRL software functions and utilities.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft software products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Windows applications.
  • Computer and networking skills to maintain laptops and mobile devices effectively.
  • Understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous challenges across various disciplines.
  • A collaborative team player who prioritizes the customer's best interests.
