About the Role

The National Arts Centre is seeking a visionary technology leader to drive our technological advancements and shape a meaningful environment for staff, artists, and visitors. As the Director of Enterprise Systems, you will develop and oversee the implementation of technology strategy and operational management of the NAC's IT infrastructure and corporate enterprise-wide systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of corporate strategies and initiatives to ensure that IT solutions and services remain current and effective in response to an evolving digital landscape.
  • Plan and direct the research, development, integration, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of IT solutions, infrastructure operations, and related services.
  • Oversee IT project portfolio management functions, offering direction and support to clients, stakeholders, and practitioners across all IT applications and corporate data platforms.
  • Manage the departmental IT operations budget and capital expenditures, conduct financial forecasts, report on results, negotiate MOUs and contracts, monitor, and conduct cost/benefit analyses.
  • Collaborate with internal NAC departments to identify and analyze business challenges and develop, adapt, and implement robust and secure technology solutions.
  • Research and analyze future trends and developments, lead the identification of business and technology opportunities for service improvement and innovation, and recommend new initiatives to increase business value.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior management, clients, and technical staff on IT-related topics, and develop or direct the development of funding submissions, analytical reports, correspondence, training, and background material, and briefing notes.
  • Represent the NAC with internal or external clients and stakeholders in order to negotiate service levels, provide advice, and collaborate with the broader community.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field; or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in IT or in a similar technology leadership role; and preferably at least 5 years in a leadership role (Director level).
  • Demonstrated experience (at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible IT management experience, inclusive of senior level technology-related strategic planning, budgeting, and project management).
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience leading operational teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer science, IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, service management, and systems development life-cycle methodologies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership, management, and human resource management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and business administration theories and principles.
  • Strong knowledge of research, development, and implementation theories, principles, and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of theories and principles of financial management, and the financial policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of contract management negotiation, and consultation theories and practices as well as consensus building and mediation techniques.
  • Must be available for some evening or weekend work, as the operational requirements of the department.
  • Fluently bilingual in both official languages, English and French, written and spoken.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or CISM are an asset.
