Job Title: Application Architect

SGI CANADA is seeking a highly skilled Application Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Digital & Information Services division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our custom-developed solutions and SaaS/COTS integrations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical expertise to our procurement and RFP processes.
  2. Participate in the development of complex RFPs for the procurement of products and services.
  3. Create and update technical RFP requirements.
  4. Participate in the evaluation of RFP responses and provide recommendations.
  5. Research, adapt, and implement architecture and design best practices.
  6. Ensure solutions are architected to meet business outcomes while aligning with IT strategy and vision.
  7. Maintain knowledge of emerging software development trends and educate both IT and the business.
  8. Identify areas of risk and tech debt in SGI's systems and communicate with stakeholders.
  9. Collaborate with data, technology, and cyber architects and developers on creating solutions related to security, scalability, and resiliency.
  10. Collaborate with Technology Architects to ensure custom applications integrate with SaaS and COTS systems.
  11. Collaborate with the data division to ensure services and applications contribute to SGI's broader data strategy.
  12. Evolves SGI's reference and working architectures to keep up with new technology and evolving industry best practices.
Requirements:
  1. Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in an Information Technology field.
  2. Six years' directly related experience in software/microservices architecture.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of Agile principles and practices for software delivery.
  2. Knowledge of distributed application architectures.
  3. Knowledge of cloud-first application design and implementation.
  4. Knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous messaging patterns.
  5. Knowledge of cloud SaaS and PaaS solutions.
  6. Knowledge of scalability, resiliency, and performance patterns in cloud-first distributed applications.
  7. Knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps methodologies.
  8. Knowledge of security principles such as Zero Trust.
  9. Knowledge of IT security, compliance, and governance practices.
  10. Skills at API design and understanding its effect on user experience.
