Production Shift Leader

Job Summary

The Production Shift Leader - Production will provide hands-on leadership on a production shift within the plant to ensure production schedules are met safely and on time. This role is responsible for leading a team of production crew members and ensuring that production schedules are met in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and foster an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among team members.
  • Conduct pre-shift huddles and provide feedback to team leaders.
  • Responsible for leading team leaders in addition to production crew members on one or more production lines.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and train leaders and team members.
  • Ensure production schedules are met and address any problems that may occur.
  • Coordinate the various department schedules, products, and manpower to ensure smooth production in the plant.
  • Verify that proper methods and procedures are being used and that quality, safety, and environmental standards are met.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and train team leaders and other team members as needed.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing company standards and regular inspections.
  • Assist in testing new equipment, methods, and products, as well as troubleshooting processes and equipment.
  • Utilize the OMS system to help achieve production targets.
  • Assist the shift leader in ensuring KPIs are met daily.
  • Follow and enforce all GMPs and safety procedures as outlined by FGF.
  • Act as a backup to the shift leader when necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to interact with others and lead and motivate a team to meet established demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to manage difficult people and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends if needed.
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and O.H.S.A.
